The Foredom flex shaft (often called a pendant drill) is an essential part of every jeweller’s workbench. The powerful motor is suspended above the bench (on a hook or an optional Foredom stand - not included) and hangs like a pendant - hence the name. A long flexible shaft connects the motor to the handpiece, keeping the motor off-hand so the handpiece remains small, lightweight and highly manoeuvrable.

Speed is controlled via a sensitive foot pedal, allowing smooth, precise control while keeping both hands free for detailed bench work. Foredom flex shafts are renowned for USA-built quality, featuring solid metal housings, smooth vibration-free operation, and high torque motors that deliver precision and power right to your fingertips. A wide range of interchangeable handpieces and accessories are available for virtually any task.

Ready to Work - Out of the Box

The K.2230 is a complete 220V kit designed for immediate use - simply hang it up, plug it in, and get to work. It includes the Foredom SR motor (1/6 HP) with forward and reverse operation and speeds up to 18,000 RPM. Built with solid metal housing and ball bearings, it is robust, smooth and powerful - ideal for sanding, grinding and polishing. Control is via the included Foredom foot pedal, manufactured from tough ABS for consistent control across the full speed range.

H.30 Handpiece - Highly Versatile Chuck-Style Design

Attached to the flexible shaft is the H.30 handpiece - widely regarded as one of the most versatile options in the Foredom range. Machined from solid aluminium, it features a Jacobs chuck-style 3-jaw chuck with a chuck key. The chuck accommodates accessories with shank sizes from 0" to 5/32" (0-4mm), making it ideal if you are upgrading from a handheld rotary tool and want wider accessory compatibility.

The flexible shaft incorporates a quick-detach feature for rapid handpiece changes and accepts most Foredom handpieces (excluding H.30H, H.44HT and H.28H).

Accessory Kit Included

Designed for jewellers, this kit includes a 43-piece accessory set to help you get started with drilling, sanding, shaping and polishing. It allows you to explore multiple techniques as you get comfortable with your flex shaft, with thousands more accessories available for every material and task.
